30 Austral Parade

The house at 30 Austral Parade is on the corner of Buswell Street and known as Buswell Cottage. Built around 1899, it is a single storey rendered brick house with a corrugated iron roof. There are simple brick chimneys at the front and back.  It has an asymmetrical facade with a verandah extending halfway along which has a separate bullnose roof supported by decorative concrete pillars and rendered masonry. The front entrance is central to the facade. The double pane sash windows with timber frames are not original but are in keeping with the original design.

History

The house was built as a family home for Walter John (Jack) and Emma Buswell. Their biography can be found here. Other residents are not known as there were no entries in the available rate records for Bunbury (reference)
