Bottled Ripe Tomatoes

Ingredients

Firm sound tomatoes

Sterilised water

Salt

Instructions

Choose firm, sound tomatoes, wipe and pack them into Mason's  preserving jars, fill the jars with sterilised salt water using one level tablespoonful of salt to one quart of water. Place the lids tightly on the jars, place the jars in coId water, bring to boiling, point and sterilise from eight to ten minutes, then fill jars to overflowing with the hot water and screw down quickly.

They had one daughter, Victoria Adelaide Evelyn (Evelyn) who taught music at their Austral Parade home (reference). Evelyn studied under Dame Nellie Melba (reference).
