Walnut Cake

Instructions

Beat butter and sugar to a cream add flour, walnuts, salt and lemon rind. Beat eggs, add vanilla to them, beat them into dry ingredients, add milk. Put into well greased cake tin. Bake about 1 hour in moderate oven. When cold ice as follows:— 1/4 lb. icing sugar. Mix with it 12 drops vanilla essence, 1 teaspoon lemon juice, 1 tablespoon water. Pour gently over cake. Decorate with shelled nuts.

5 ozs. flour,

4 ozs. butter,

3 ozs. castor sugar,

Pinch salt,

1 teaspoon grated lemon rind,

2 ozs. shelled walnuts,

Dessertspoon milk,

2 eggs,

6 teaspoon vanilla essence.
